Here's a wonderful Mother's Day Gift. Flowering crab apples are one of the best outdoor flowering trees for bonsai. They produce beautiful, white, fragrant flowers covering the entire tree in early spring before the foliage appears. The leaves are small and lobed. Little green apples first appear in early summer and by the fall have grown and ripened just as the leaves are turning different shades of red, orange and yellow. After the leaves fall, the fruit stays on the tree and so if you can winter it in a visible spot you'll have the picture of fruits on bare branches through the season. Obviously this is an outdoor tree , but its actually quite easy to care for and had a good level of pest and disease resistance. You can buy these trees all year round , but they'll ship in the winter months without any leaves.
