Firethorn - Pyracantha
Pyracantha (pyracantha augustifolia) Flowering Outdoor Bonsai - this outdoor bonsai is easily hardy to zone 6 or 5 in its natural form but like any bonsai will require good protection over the winter in the colder climates. Its oblong semi-evergreen leaves are shiny and dark green on top, grayish underneath. Masses of tiny spring flowers make this popular shrub a spectacular bonsai. The common name of firethorn aptly describes the dense clusters of brilliant red or orange berries which are present from October and stay on the tree into March.
