The green maple leaves arrive in spring as green and stay that color until changing to the rich autumn colors. When the whole countryside is ablaze, it is the maple trees that stand out conspicuously in all their splendor. The maple presents a kaleidoscope of color and charm through the 4 seasons. The color changes are as great a feast to see as the autumnal tints. The Japanese word momiji is applied to the maple, it means baby hands.
