SCOTS PINE (pinus sylvestris)---outdoor (zones 4-9), also called SCOTCH PINE

This outdoor Pine Bonsai tree naturally matures into what is called in Bonsaii literati style, with branches spreading horizontally. It's very hard and not too difficult to grow so this tree will be good for the beginner or as a housewarming or anniversary gift. The scaly bark is reddish brown when young, and gray-brown when older. The needles, in pairs, are stiff and often twisted, 1 1/2 to 3” long, and color from gray-green to blue-green. The cones are about the same length as the needles. It is a most suitable pine for bonsai.
Pot: Mica, rectangle, brown, 9x7x3.5“; Origin 1994; Height 24“;
Photo: April 2009.
